Meter Readings and Bill Due Dates
The monthly charges listed above are applicable to all accounts. The minimum monthly charge is billed for usage between 0 Kgal and 6 Kgal and is applicable if the water is turned off.
Most water meters are located just inside your property line along the county road. The District requires that new meters be installed on the property for which they serve.
The District asks that you please call for any service call, any request to turn water on or off, or any other request dealing with the meter pit that you contact us. The District’s responsibility ends at the meter pit (or valve on the customer side of the meter) and the meter pit is a District facility under District maintenance. We are able to respond to your request quickly and ask that you contact us rather than run the risk of damaging our equipment.
The meter is read monthly, towards the end of the month, however the actual day varies depending on the weekend and holiday schedule of the month. Each meter is read and estimated readings are very rare. The bills are processed and mailed out on the last day of the month. The bill is due the 15th day of the following month. For example, the bill would be mailed August 31st with a due date of September 15th.
Our office staff reviews the usage for the new bill and proactively responds to usages that appear excessively high. Although we cannot be sure how you are using the water, the District is proactive about leak detection for customers and we do our best to notify you as soon as possible if there appears to be excessively high usage.
Please contact our office if you have any concerns or questions about your bill.
Rate Differential Fee
The District will cease the acceptance of annual water transfers except when the Board of Directors declares a drought situation, effective November 1, 2015.
Water Allocation Surcharge
Water Surcharge will be assessed when an account’s year to date usage exceeds the annual water allotment. Currently, the surcharge is $6.00 per Kgal of usage. This fee is to recover the District’s cost to obtain additional water rights for delivery.
Residential Meter Overuse Surcharge
Any customer with a residential water tap that exceeds their water usage allotment amount by three (3) acre-feet shall be required to pay an enhanced surcharge in the amount of $22.00 per thousand gallons, or as otherwise set forth on the District’s then current Fee Schedule, as may be amended from time to time. In general, a residential water tap is classified as a water tap with an allocation under four(4) acre-feet of water.
Plant Investment Surcharge
When an account’s year to date usage exceeds the Plant Investment Allotment (# of equivalent taps x the yearly allotment of plant investment allowed per tap), a Plant Investment Surcharge will be assessed. The transfer of additional water will NOT remove this charge. Additional Plant Investments must be purchased to increase the allotment and reduce the Surcharge.Currently, the Plant Investment Allotment is $3.95 per Kgal in addition to the standard monthly usage fee.
